My dear beloved,
If I were there, I'd cradle your head in my lap as I traced your facial features with my finger and tell you with my tears how deeply sorry I am to have wounded you and I'm trying with all my power to make it right.  I'd gently stroke your hair and whisper a plea for forgiveness.  I'd pick up your hand and gently kiss near the base of each finger.  I'd look into your face and you would see the hurt I have caused myself by hurting you.  You would see my beseeching eyes, longing for your forgiveness, the wish that I could change today.
