The words of this paper
Cannot be expressed another way.
I can never tell you in person
Nor could I ever tell to another.
So please keep an open mind
To you what I must say.
All that I have seen from you.
You have a strength
And a love for God
That is as evident to me
As reality itself.
Your helping hand
And your independence
Are evident in every single task
That you put yourself to.
You greet new faces
Simply so they do not feel alone.
And you aid others
Even though you do not have to.
What I feel for you.
Through every smile,
Through every pat on the back,
Through every note you praise,
Through every prayer you agree,
You cause me to respect you more
Every chance I see you.
These words have been
As rocks in my spirit
Ever since you gave me
Just the simple time of day.
You could never know
How much it meant to me
That you bothered to speak
And grace my ear with a kind voice.
Bitter is my soul
To any man's gaze
Or thoughtless word.
Harsh is my eye
And cold is my mind.
Not once has anyone
Earned my admiration
Or an ounce of my heart
That I hold so deep within.
But to you
To you I have this to say
Thank you.
You have shone a sliver of light
On my otherwise stony mind.
My hope is yet dark,
But your smiling face,
Your inviting personality,
I will not easily forget.
